Snake would have eaten a capybara. Images show the snake among branches in the Rio Ceroula. The fisherman said he believed it was approximately 6 meters long.
Fisherman Adão Muniz, 32, was startled when he came across a giant anaconda on the Ceroula River, in Campo Grande. The video shows the snake sunbathing after swallowing prey. (See video above).
At g1, Muniz said he was kayaking with his brother-in-law in the river when he was surprised by the giant anaconda. He reported shivering when he saw the animal, but said it turned out to be an adventure.
“My partner threaded the bait on the riverbank and I went to unroll it when the anaconda came out from under the bush. The scare was too great, I don’t even know how I managed to record it”.
From the images, it is possible to see that Muniz walks away and the snake hides among the branches and leaves on the riverbank. The record was made on October 28 and published on social networks.
“Is it crazy? It’s crazy!”, exclaimed the fisherman when he came face to face with the snake.
The fisherman said he had seen other anacondas while fishing, but never one this big. According to him, the serpent was approximately 6 meters long.
“I’ve seen anacondas before, but this one was very impressive. The belly was quite big, I think it had eaten some capybara”.
Biologist Pedro Guimarães said that the snakes’ digestion process can take weeks. According to him, its skin and organs (esophagus and stomach) dilate up to three times more than normal to accommodate prey.
Despite not being as agile in terrestrial environments, anacondas are very fast in the water and can go up to 30 minutes without breathing. Snakes have nocturnal habits.
