Unsettling footage of a giant snake slithering over a wall into what appears to be the porch entrance of a house has gone viral on Twitter.
A clip of the large reptile making its way towards the windowed door of an unknown property was shared to Twitter by tuidelescribano alongside the caption: “Living near the jungle allows you to have the visit of sweet little animals.”

The snake, who appears almost as thick as a tree trunk, can be seen sliding along in close proximity to a motorbike, bicycle and birdcage, which give further credence to the theory that the building in the clip is indeed a residential one.
At the time of writing, the video, which can be seen here, has been viewed 1.8 million times. The footage was also shared to Instagram by the account evergladesholidaypark, while noted Twitter personality and former NBA star Rex Chapman has also shared a version of the clip taken from the account TheFigen.
The origins of the clip are so far unclear. One Twitter user commenting on the version of the clip shared by TheFigen claimed the motorcycle license plate indicated the location as being “Central Java, Indonesia,” but that is so far unconfirmed.
An Instagram user responding to the version shared by evergladesholidaypark, meanwhile, speculated that the snake was likely “a female around 18 or 20 foot long weighing around 120-160lbs and around nine-12 years of age.”
One thing everyone could agree on, however, was that the video made for unsettling viewing. That’s hardly a surprise given that a 2022 YouGov America survey found nearly one in three U.S. adults rank snakes as their biggest fear ahead of heights, spiders and public speaking.
Study participants were also quizzed on how much they fear each type of fear they chose, with snakes once again coming out on top with 61 percent of those who said they feared them admitting they “fear them a lot.”
That goes some way to explaining the strong reaction generated by the clip. This was particularly apparent among those commenting on the version posted by Chapman. “Oh hells no!” one wrote, with another admitting: “I am not okay with that.”

Some sought to try and allay any fears about the giant reptile. “I keep snakes. No need to freak out,” one Twitter user wrote. “It’s a big one, but probably mostly docile. Stay out of it’s way, it will move on on its own.”
Despite this reassurance, many remained cautious. “I am not afraid but I would keep a safe distance away from the snake because I don’t want to f**k around and find out how hungry that thing is,” one user wrote.
On Instagram, meanwhile, another user acknowledged that while it was a “beautiful animal” they would probably call someone to “rescue” it or possibly hide and “wait until it left.”
