On November 4, 1968, aircraft IB-249 of the Spanish company IBERIA flew from London to Alicante on route B31. On board are commander Juan Ignacio Lorenzo Torres, co-pilot Juan Celdran Garcia and flight engineer Jose Cuenca Paneque.
Commander Juan Torres started flying planes at the age of 17. He was an officer in the Spanish Air Force for 40 years, piloted the plane of King Juan Carlos de Bourbon, was a fighter pilot in the Sahara and director of an Aviation School.
He is a very experienced combat pilot who can be classified as a high level professional having flown more than 28,000 hours.
Juan Torres says:
“I was the commander then. When we arrived in Barcelona, the airport controller ordered us to disembark, which was strange. But I thought it might be due to crossing planes and that’s why they’re making us descend. I told the co-pilot, Juan Celdran Garcia, to watch outside in case he saw a plane approaching us.
Later the controller said that at a higher level they could see a plane coming towards us. We were approaching Barcelona and the controller ordered us to descend to 280, that is to 8.5 km.
There was some turbulence at this level and I asked the co-pilot not to lower the guard. After a while, Juan warned me, “I see it.” But this was no other plane.
It was a very bright light. Too powerful to be an airplane sidelight. She came from above and just took a position in front of us. I told the co-pilot not to report this object yet because it didn’t look like a normal plane.
The strange light came closer. It was only 10 meters in front of the nose of our plane. Suddenly, another ball-like light of various hues appeared in the center. The color changed from white to blue and then to grayish.
The most curious thing is that it pulsated, as if it was “breathing”. It was like it had a life of its own. At this point we also saw two other lights, slightly smaller and of the same dull color, located to the side of the main one.
The object flew forward, maintaining a clear distance and the same speed as us. There were three objects, one large one in the center and two smaller ones on either side of it, but they were so synchronized that they looked like one object. The light was very strong.
Me, the co-pilot and the flight engineer looked at them and then called the flight attendant. We asked her if she also sees this light. She said “Yes!” and asked what it was. We said we didn’t know, we just wanted to make sure she saw them too.
Then the light went out. And it turned on again. The object approached us and to our astonishment began to make incredible movements around the plane. But with such speed that we could barely follow him with our eyes.
This went on for ten minutes. I then contacted the controller and said, “For your information, we have an unidentified object moving in and out of the aircraft.”
Air traffic control at Barcelona airport asked us to provide a “transponder” which is code to detect the radar. The UFO continued to make these amazing turns around us. A few turns and maneuvers that should have destroyed whoever was inside. No living thing could survive such overloads.
It seemed to us that this object was alive. It reminded me of a huge human eye. These “veins”, or whatever they were, were intertwined and had a different hue. That light, as I said, pulsated. I really associated it with something alive.
The UFO began to play around the plane as it pleased. It stood, dropped, approached, receded, and performed either direct or parabolic maneuvers. I have been flying since the age of 17 and I know that the human body cannot withstand G-forces above “5”. If this limit is exceeded, loss of consciousness occurs. No matter what anti-gravity suit you wear.
This object broke all the laws of physics. It flew at right angles and drew hyperbolas, parabolas, then suddenly jumped from one point to another. It was crazy…
We turned on all the lights on our plane and started signaling. He began to answer in kind. Every time we changed the light he did the same thing. If we turned on the light, it would also light up. It was clear he was talking to us.
I asked questions, first in English but he didn’t answer, then in Spanish and I don’t know if he understood the words or read my mind, but when I said that to a question one blink would mean “Yes” and a double blink would mean “No” so and it happened.
I asked the UFO a total of about 20 questions to which I received answers. But I cannot report all the questions asked because it is clear to me that in order to avoid problems I should not talk about it. “Anything can happen!” – they told me in the special services – “People slip in the bathroom or cross the road in an inappropriate place.”.
I can only report the first three questions I asked the UFO:
Me: “Are you from this Galaxy?”, UFO: 1 flash of light, Me: “Are you friendly?”, UFO: 1 flash of light, Me: “Is it a manned ship?”, UFO: 1 flash in light.
They were from our Galaxy, they were friendly, but something about our nuclear technology bothered them.
Then the UFO went away. It just flew away. Later we landed. I was summoned by Lt. Col. Antonio Aleu Padreni, who at the time was in charge of the warning and control network in the Barcelona area.
The lieutenant colonel questioned me a lot about the UFO encounter. At the time the military was very open and informed me that the Air Force Commander knew what had happened and that the Siesta, Samba, Kansas and Embargo air surveillance radars had detected three unknown objects that were moving in unison with my plane.
Even the Bolero radar in Constantine, Seville was able to detect the objects. It was documented: I was shown the radar data, and I asked for a hard copy of it. It was given to me on the condition that this information would not be shared.
After the incident began to leak to the press, Lt. Col. Ugarte, along with another military man, came to my house in Madrid and demanded that I immediately hand over “what I have and what does not belong to me.” I was forced to turn over the radar footage of this UFO approaching my plane.
But it was too late and the incident crossed the lines of secrecy. The press eventually found out about him. At that time General Lacalle was Minister of Aviation. He said, “No, people are not ready for it yet. We can’t tell them about it.’
The case became official. An investigator was appointed in this case, and the press was told in an official note “that the pilots saw the planet Venus”.
That is all. What could I do? We told what we saw, but try to prove something … The co-pilot became the commander of an aircraft, and would he really risk his career? No one wants to risk their career or life.
You know, the funny thing is, before all this happened to me, I didn’t believe in UFOs. This topic made me laugh a lot and those people who believed in UFOs also made me laugh… And now I know for sure that They are there in the sky…
